Jakarta, 26 June 2026 – Amid the rapid growth of an increasingly competitive Indonesian film industry, the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) is set to bring back JAFF Market, Indonesia’s first and largest film market, which has developed into one of the region’s key industry events.
For its third edition, JAFF Market will once again partner with Amar Bank as its main partner, reaffirming their shared commitment to building a more connected and sustainable film ecosystem that is better equipped to compete globally.
JAFF Market 2026 Powered by Amar Bank will take place from Nov. 28 to 30 at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC) in Yogyakarta. The market will strengthen its role as a platform connecting stakeholders from across the film industry’s value chain, including creators, producers, investors, distributors and supporting institutions.
Culture Minister Fadli Zon said the ministry’s continued support for JAFF Market reflected the government’s commitment to strengthening the national film ecosystem.
“We do not want Indonesia to serve merely as a market for international films. We must also strengthen our production, distribution and financing capabilities so that more Indonesian works can compete internationally,” Fadli said during the press conference for JAFF Market 2026 Powered by Amar Bank.
He added that cross-sector collaboration was fundamental to the long-term development of the national film industry. JAFF Market, he said, provided a strategic and productive space to strengthen networks, create new opportunities and expand international access for Indonesian works and talent.
“We hope Indonesia’s growing film ecosystem can continue to develop in an inclusive and sustainable manner,” he said.
Despite the broader economic slowdown, Indonesia’s film industry has continued to demonstrate resilience. According to Cinepoint’s Industry Trends and Performance in H1 2026 report, 13 Indonesian films surpassed 1 million admissions before the end of the first half of the year.
The milestone was reached earlier than during the corresponding periods in previous years, indicating that a growing number of Indonesian films are succeeding in reaching wider audiences.
JAFF Market director Linda Gozali said the development signaled that the Indonesian film industry was entering a more mature phase. The industry’s challenge, she said, was no longer limited to producing more films, but also involved ensuring that each project had access to financing, markets and broader opportunities for collaboration.
“This is where JAFF Market plays its role as an industry hub. We are seeing more projects secure financing partners, more talent gain access to development opportunities and more Indonesian intellectual properties reach wider markets,” Linda said.
“The experience of the past two years has shown that demand for an industry platform such as JAFF Market continues to grow alongside increasing interest in investment and collaboration across the film sector.”
JAFF festival director Ifa Isfansyah echoed the sentiment, saying that the industry’s growth must be supported by a stronger ecosystem capable of connecting industry players with markets and investors.
“Indonesia has an abundance of talent and intellectual property, but it still needs the necessary industry infrastructure to expand opportunities for collaboration and sustainable business development,” Ifa said.
In response to these needs, JAFF Market 2026 Powered by Amar Bank will retain its core programs covering the industry’s value chain, from project development and talent capacity building to business matching and access to international markets.
The programs include Film Industry Exhibitions, JAFF Future Project, Talent Day, Film Lab, Film & Market Conference, Market Screening, Company Showcase, Networking Events and JAFF IP Connection, formerly known as JAFF Content Market.
The continuation of JAFF Market’s partnership with Amar Bank also reflects growing interest from the financial sector in the economic potential of Indonesia’s film industry. The partnership goes beyond supporting the annual event and seeks to explore financing models and financial services that are better suited to the characteristics of the creative industries.
Amar Bank President Director Vishal Tulsian said supporting the growth of the creative sector required structural changes in access to financing.
“JAFF Market has consistently demonstrated its role as a strong hub for developing an integrated film and creative ecosystem. Our support for JAFF Market 2026 is therefore aimed at encouraging a multistakeholder ecosystem in which policymakers and industry players can work together to design financial services that respond to the needs of the creative industries,” Vishal said.
“By moving toward solutions that are aligned with the sector’s distinctive business models, we can ensure that creative potential is fully transformed into sustainable economic value.”
As part of efforts to strengthen the film ecosystem across its value chain, JAFF Market and Amar Bank are expanding their collaboration by involving the Indonesian Film Board (BPI) and several film industry associations, including the Indonesian Film Producers Association (APROFI), Indonesian Film Directors Club (IFDC), PILAR, the Indonesian Film Editors Association (INAFEd), the Indonesian Cinematographers Society (ICS) and the Indonesian Casting Association (ACI).
In addition to improving the capacity and competencies of local industry professionals, the partnership will explore innovation, technology and new business approaches that could enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian cinema at the regional and global levels.
Beyond its annual event in Yogyakarta, JAFF Market has continued to expand its international presence through participation in major industry platforms, including the Marché du Film in Cannes, the Asian Contents & Film Market in Busan and the Asia TV Forum & Market in Singapore.
Through these efforts, JAFF Market seeks to promote Indonesian creators and intellectual properties while building global networks that can open new opportunities for the continued growth of the national film industry.
